Take Your Time But Hurry Up

Take your time but hurry up
Take a sip but drain your cup
If only time were in our hands
And hours ticked at our command

So time apart would quickly fly
And time together trickle by
Like on the beach, as summer swoons
A slowly stretching afternoon

Or late at night when candles glow
And flicker deep within our souls
As waves of pleasure start to come
Let the hours come undone

Take your time but hurry up
Take a sip but drain your cup
Though time may not be ours to hold
Let’s savor life as it unfolds.
